Pink Panther
This exceptional vehicle is one of 21 British S.A.S. desert
combat vehicles believed still to exist today.
This class of Land-Rover was originally built and conceived for air drop behind enemy lines and painted pink (even the tires). Because of this, these Land Rovers were virtually invisible at a certain distance in the desert sand of the middle east and north Africa. With a combined fuel capacity of 115 US gallons in six separate tanks, and an operating range of well over 1,600 miles without refueling, these iconic machines sported triple search lamps, sand ladders, twin 30-caliber machine guns, a Carl Gustav 81 mm shoulder-launched surface to surface anti-tank missile, twelve smoke grenades, innumerable hand grenades and other implements of war necessary to subdue any hostile force. Of course, our vehicle lacks weapons, but their mounts and other accessories remain in excellent condition.
Our “Pinkie” shows fewer than 7,000 miles since new. Whenever pinkies went out on patrol, it was considered smart protocol to include one with a winch, so ours is one of the rarest of the rare, with a P.T.O.-driven drum and cable winch.
